Highly recommend this school

December 16, 2020 by ray

My son attended this school’s 2 year class and we had a wonderful experience. The teachers and staff are caring, kind, patient, and fantastic educators. My son learned so much while he was here, including his letters (upper and lower case), colors, numbers, shapes, and much, much more. He’s a picky eater, but he ate the hot lunches (pre-pandemic). We were so sad to pull him out because of the pandemic, but we definitely plan to enroll him and our younger child when the timing is right. I highly recommend this preschool.

Great school

November 24, 2019 by ray

My daughter was with Angel’s for two years. She has grew and learnt so much. This a small school and each age group/class is led by 2-3 teachers who works together with all the kids. The school is more academic based and not so much on arts and crafts. They do have art work on holidays/ special occasions and occasionally on the subject they are learning but don’t expect them every week. You will be amazed by the knowledge your kid brings home. My daughter knows the 7 continents, life cycle of a butterfly, parts of plants, geometric shapes, phonics, and much more at the age of 3. It is a great school if this is the style you are looking for.

Wonderful beginning for our daughters

January 14, 2019 by ray

Name: Angela B.

Our oldest daughter has attended Little Acorn Montessori Academy for over three years. She started in the toddler room and is now in the pre-k/kindergarten room with Ms. Edina. She has blossomed so much since beginning at Little Acorn. She is independent, confident, social, academically strong and cares for herself and others.

Our younger daughter has attended the school for over a year now. She started in the infant room, moved to the walker side of the room when she turned one. She is currently transitioning to the pre-primary room. The transition has gone smoothly, the teachers showing care and reporting to us daily how the day went.

Teachers: All the teachers, assistants, and staff love and care for the students. I am amazed with the new and exciting things my daughter has learned. Infant and Walker teachers have such patience with the babies. Both daughters learned how to feed themselves, began using words, and how to share. Not to mention the most adorable art projects ever! It is amazing what can be made with an infant’s hands and feet! My oldest daughter continued learning her ABC’s, numbers, shapes, and continents with Ms. Syeda. She was coming home singing songs about the seven continents. Ms. Syeda also encouraged potty training, which was a huge help. Ms. Tiara, her primary teacher, (sadly she isn’t there anymore) taught her how to read! Ms. Edina is continuing to teach her comprehension and expanding my daughter’s growth. Teachers give students jobs based on individuality. There are weekly extracurricular programs including Spanish, cooking, computers, art and music. There are also outside programs brought into the school for an extra fee. My daughter is participating in a dance class and loves it! Ms. Susie and Ms. Wendy, administrators, listen to parent needs. They call when you have a sick child. There is a monthly curriculum posted in the classrooms and posted online.

The school: The school is divided into sections based on the student age. All classes are clean, just right size furniture, labeled areas and organized with hands-on manipulatives. The infant/walkers have their own classroom and playground. All other students play outside on a big playground. There are tricycles with a bike path, jungle gym, wall climbing structure, balance beams, artificial turf area, garden, small sand area, chalkboard and picnic tables that are shaded. A generous and healthy lunch menu is offered at an additional price.

We are so proud of the little humans we are raising and feel fortunate they are both receiving a terrific education in a safe and loving environment! Little Acorn Montessori has been a wonderful beginning as our daughters discover a love of learning!

A Wonderful Experience

July 20, 2015 by diane

Name: Ari G.

As a new parents we must confront decisions that will make critical differences in the life of our child. Such was the decision to 1) move from an at home nanny to a preschool setting and 2) choosing a preschool that will provide the warmth and nurturing every child needs plus the careful guidance and positive encouragement for their developmental growth.

Little Acorn Montessori Academy has been a wonderful experience for our daughter and for us. As parents we are informed of school projects, activities and learning progress. Our daughter enjoys every day — we know because we asked her daily — and has blossomed from her traumatic first days in the infant room into a happy toddler navigating social interaction with classmates and then into a confident four year old with manners and critical thinking skills. The Montessori approach to child development and self determined learning has prepared her well academically — she scored very well in private school entrance exams.

We highly recommend this school. It’s diverse, welcoming and everyone is nice, cordial and respectful — qualities they impart to the children.

Our experience with the parents on the birthday party circuit has been terrific too. The friends our daughter has made at Little Acorn Montessori Academy are deeply cherished.

Still Love It!

Name: Maureen W.

I now have two children at Oneonta. Still love it. I am thrilled with the care and concern the teachers and administrators have for the children, their learning and well being, and shaping them into caring, well adjusted kids. Love it!

Look No Further

February 8, 2012 by diane

Name: Virginia C.

I have two sons who attend Oneonta Montessori. They are so happy and have learned so much from their caring teachers and peers. My oldest son is in Kindergarten, there is no other school in the area (public or private) that will offer the same curriculum, philosophy and special subjects that he gets here at Oneonta. My youngest is in preschool and under his teachers guidance has blossomed into a confident and well adjusted 3.5 year old.
If you are looking for a school that has a good curriculum with exceptional teachers and a strong philosophy (not to mention an NAEYC accreditation), look no further than OMS.
